It started out as a simple Friday night. My Wonderful Husband brought home some take out for dinner, the kids were playing, and then The Boy brought a box of card games upstairs that no one had played with in a while. He asked if we could play Go Fish (sadly not "Gold Fish"..but I digress - that is a story I have already told). After playing Go Fish, we discovered that the game "Spit" was also in this collection. This is when the night got interesting.... I fancy myself a card shark... not with real card games like poker or spades although I play a mean game of Gin...but when it comes to Spit - I am the master. It was time to teach my offspring the fine game of Spit. First I taught them the game and let them play each other while I explained and helped. Then I asked if they would like to play me. The Princess was game. I said, "Now, no getting mad. Because you will lose." Is that wrong? She was up for the challenge...or so she thought....muhahaha. Too much? I won before she knew what happened. Yes, playing Spit is one of my hidden talents and I have explained before that I am competitive and play to win. The Boy was up next and was given the same warning. He said, "Mommy, I don't like when you trash talk." "Ok, I will try to tone it down. Game over." Next up, The Bear. Now here's what I like about The Bear - he can totally take some good natured trash talk and give it right back. He is quietly competitive but never a sore loser, and he has a good sense of humor. Game on. He really thought he stood a chance and he put up quite a fight, but in the end the Spit Queen won. Ba Bam!
* Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her: but once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game. - Voltaire*
