This sign sits in our house where we see it every day. But do our children know what it really means? I know they can read it of course - that's not what I mean. I also know that they know what family is... But what I hope they know and understand and remember is that they are family forever. (I remind them of this sometimes when they are annoying each other..;-)) While they didn't get to pick each other, forces beyond their control have placed them together in this family and on this journey of life - together. I remind them that they are lucky to have each other. We tell them over and over that they should always have each others backs. Always. Look out for each other. As they continue on in this life journey - I hope that they remember that they always have someone who cares, someone they can turn to, someone to celebrate with, and someone to complain to. I hope they know that this sign sits in our house as a reminder of how much they are loved.
