Today didn't start off too well.. actually it all really began last night with a sushi craving that went unfed. My Wonderful Husband was going to stop on his way home last night to get us dinner..I was craving sushi. But our favorite place was closed! So, no sushi. He was getting home late and we decided not to worry about it. Fast forward to this morning and the debacle that it was. It was pouring when I dropped the kids at school. So of course today was the day that The Princess' backpack opened upon getting out of the car - spilling it's contents on the sidewalk and under the car. Lovely. Once we got it all cleaned up and I hurried the kids in to the dry building, I drove away only to realize that in the commotion, she forgot her water bottle. Turn the car around, jump out, get soaked, run bottle over to door where I luckily spot a friend of The Princess and hand it off. I left the school parking now for the second time realizing that I needed to get gas. Get to the gas station, manage to make my way in behind a large truck only to then find the gas pump out of service. Ok, at this point, I am getting slightly annoyed and more than slightly wet. I finally get gas at a functional pump and make my way downtown to the administration building to drop off the kids' posters for a poster contest. Posters are safely covered in a plastic bag which ensured that the rain finally starts to stop at this point...one thing in my favor this morning. I drop the posters and leave only to brood the ENTIRE way home for fear that The Bear did not put his name and school info on the back... ugh. Do I turn around and check or just call when I get home? I decide to call when I get home. At this point, I am visualizing the lovely cup of coffee that I have yet to have this morning... it's at home waiting... But alas, that was not meant to be right away. I pull up to the house only to find two large boxes sitting IN FRONT of my garage door. Some very choice words start coming to my mind at this point for many reasons - not the least of which being caffeine deprivation. Deep breath. Park car on driveway, walk into house, call delivery company who so kindly had called to confirm this delivery yesterday telling me that no one needed to be home... clearly that did not work out well. I give the person on the phone a piece of my mind which really does absolutely no good because the delivery people are now in another town and I have two large boxes that I can not move into the garage and out of the potential rain nor can I get my car in the garage. Call My Wonderful Husband - only to complain as he is an hour away at work and can not help. Debate just having the darn coffee and calling it a day. But I am not a quitter. But I am also not able to lift these boxes alone. I finally found a neighbor home and nice enough to help - yeah problem solved. Hello coffee. All is good until I go downstairs.... a shelf on the bookshelf had given way the other day and I knew that the daunting task of cleaning the books awaited me.. what I didn't know was that when the shelf fell it took with it a dehumidifying jar. If you have never seen one of these things, it is some type of gel substance that collects the humidity in the air. When it is full of water you throw it out and replace with a new one... or in this case you forget to throw it out and leave it sitting next to a questionably secure bookshelf full of books. Cue the "OH NO" because yes this stuff was everywhere - some books did not make it. Once I cleaned up this mess and got a few things together for an upcoming yard sale, I showered the day off of me (along with that dehumidifying stuff...) and emailed My Wonderful Husband to request sushi for dinner. and wine. And that is how this day ended. Sushi - check. Wine - check. Mush better.
