P365 - 2013 - Day 292 - you will have to go through him
The Boy and his soccer team had a tournament on Saturday. It was a Halloween inspired tournament and they were Minnions. But costumes or no costumes, these boys played hard as always. This season The Boy has been playing defense - left back - this is a departure from his days playing for The Cosmos as a top goal scorer. At first, he was a little unsure of this new position. But quite quickly he adapted - if you ask him, he will tell you that his Daddy was a defender too - he has started to feel at home back there and like everything this kid does, he takes it seriously and plays with his whole heart. As I have said before, I love to watch my kids play soccer and the two games at this tournament were no different. I watched my "Littliest Leonard" tear up the field, run down the opposing team, and clear the ball impressively. If you ask him to, he will proudly show you his bruises and scrapes which he wears like a badge of honor these days. He'll even tell you the tale of the elbow that caused it or the slide tackle that inflicted it. He is in. He is all in. He is a defender. If you are trying to get down to his goal, you will have to go through him first. Good luck with that.... No wonder he was so exhausted on the ride home.
