P365 - 2013 - Day 276 - Welcome to the Surf Shack
(Guest Blogger - My Wonderful Husband)
Growing up I often heard about men and their garages. It was the old school man cave--a place to keep your tools, work on whatever you were working on, and escape the insanity that might be brewing in a house full of your wonderful, but crazy kids. Our last house had a massive garage--the type that others would envy. The problem is that I am not that handy. I used that garage to build the occasional surf rack, my youngest son's bed frame, and other odds and ends, but nothing major. I certainly did not use my garage to work on our cars--that would probably result in them not running. So when we decided to move to our current house that lacked a garage, it was no big deal. But what I realized is I still need that place of storage--not for my tools or my lawn mower (no lawns at the beach), but for the surf gear. So today I transformed the shed that used to store tools, beach chairs and other odds and ends into a full-blown surf shack. The result, a place for surfboards, wetsuits, boogie boards, skim boards and anything else ocean related. Now this is my kind of "garage," one that every house near the beach needs.
