This afternoon started out as many others. I picked up the kids, we came home, unpacked, did homework, had snack, and they went outside to play. Then they came inside while I was cooking dinner and things quickly took a turn for the worse as they sometimes do. There was bickering, yelling, general disagreements, tattling, you name it. It culminated with everyone going up to their rooms and finally (after my own self imposed time out) a family meeting. I had the kids sit down and tell each other something that the other one did tonight that made them sad and something that the other does that makes them happy. I had them tell each other things that they like to do together and make some promises about listening to each other and thinking before they do or say something to each other. I know they love each other and I know that siblings are going to fight. But I hope that they can learn to communicate with each other and never let the sun go down on their anger.
