PROJECT 365- Day 59 - My Babies (all 4 of them)

PROJECT 365- Day 59 - My Babies (all 4 of them)

The Boy was home sick today.  Sandy didn't leave his side once all day.  When The Bear and The Princess came home from school The Boy was happy  to see them, they were concerned how he was feeling and Sandy was finally able to relax when all of "the babies" were home.  They all chilled out and watched some TV before dinner.

PROJECT 365- Day 58 - One Sleepy 5 year old

PROJECT 365- Day 58 - One Sleepy 5 year old

The Boy is still sick.  He isn't throwing up anymore for which I am very thankful.  But he has been sleeping on and off all day.  He napped on the couch three times and then at 4 pm (yes 4 pm) he went upstairs and crawled into bed.  It is now almost 10 pm and I am hoping that he is just sleeping off the yuck that has been in his system this weekend.  However I can not help being freaked out by the fact that my sleepy 5 year old put himself to bed at 4 pm.

PROJECT 365- Day 57 - A Fabulous Fashion Designer!

PROJECT 365- Day 57 - A Fabulous Fashion Designer!

We were supposed to go to the beach today to see Poppy for his birthday.  We were packed and ready to walk out the door when The Boy threw up like he was auditioning for The Exorcist.  Unfortunately that was going to make a 4 hour drive a challenge, so we had to unpack and resign ourselves to the idea that we were bailing on Poppy for the second weekend in a row! UGH!  The Boy was crying, The Bear and The Princess were disappointed but trying not to make The Boy feel bad, and I was just sad for both not going and having a sick kid again!  So the picture today was almost going to be the packed car that needed to be unpacked.  I couldn't bring myself to take a picture of The Boy - he just looked too sad and pathetic.
Then after a few hours, The Princess asked me to come and see something that she had done.  This is what I found - She had stacked blocks to make two mannequins and had "designed" two dresses.  Later on she even added accessories - necklaces, purses, etc... :-) This truly made me smile!  I love creativity!  I love that she came up with this all on her own.  I love making the best of a crappy day!  I love that someday I might have my own personal designer!

PROJECT 365- Day 56 - THE WEEKEND IS HERE!!!!

PROJECT 365 - Day 56 - THE WEEKEND IS HERE!!!!

In this house, video games are not allowed during the week.  As it is, there is not much time after school we don't need to add video games.  I know...I'm such a hard a** right? haha  So today when The Bear got in the car he asked if he could play his video game tonight.  I said "No, you know that..."  Then he reminded me that it was Friday.  I had totally forgot!  For a three day school week, it sure did seem like it went on forever.....  But now the weekend is officially here as evidenced by the rapt attention to the television screen, controllers at the ready and a full on battle with Darth Vader taking place in the playroom.

PROJECT 365- Day 55 - Whatcha Doing?

PROJECT 365- Day 55 - Whatcha Doing?

It was raining outside when the kids got home from school today.  So they headed down to the playroom to play.  This usually involves going up and down the stairs countless times.  On one of their trips upstairs as they zoomed past I caught a glimpse of a tail....  So I grabbed my camera for the return trip downstairs that I knew was coming.  As they passed me I said..."Whatcha doing?".  I was slightly curious why my youngest child was dressed as Eeyore.  Not surprised, mind you, just slightly curious.  The Bear tells me "I'm playing a soccer game."  The Princess tells me "I'm the cheerleader".  The Boy tells me "I'm the mascot".  Makes perfect sense.

PROJECT 365- Day 54 - Pandora Makes Me Happy

PROJECT 365- Day 54 - Pandora Makes Me Happy....
A 3 day weekend turned into a 4 day weekend because of the snow.... Now don't get me wrong.....I ♥ having everyone home. However, when I came back from dropping the kids off at school this morning, the house was quiet. That called for some Pandora while finishing up laundry. Today's mix was an R&B station based on the song "F**k You" by Cee lo Green (clearly can't listen to that with the kids home) .........;-)

PROJECT 365- Day 53 - Star Wars and Snow Days

PROJECT 365- Day 53- Star Wars and Snow Days

The Bear and The Boy spent time playing Star Wars together before going to play in the snow.  They had all their guys, the ships, and a cool spot to play under an end table.  It was a good way to spend part of their snow day - giving their imaginations a workout!

PROJECT 365- Day 52 - Sounds Good!

PROJECT 365 - Day 52 - Sounds Good!

The Princess is finally pneumonia free!!!  Three rounds of antibiotics, countless trips to the doctor, too many co - pays.  Hearing today that her lungs sound good -  priceless!!!  She also desperately wants a purple streak in her hair....in the meantime she found this clip in one.  ;-)

PROJECT 365- Day 51 - Ice Cream Talk

PROJECT 365 - Day 51 - Ice Cream Talk

Tonight while the kids were having dessert there was a conversation about favorite ice cream flavors.  "What's your favorite ice cream Daddy?"  "I would eat any ice cream but I love the chocolate chip cookie from Skipper Dipper.  If someone told me I could only have one food, I would pick ice cream!"  The Princess was in agreement.  She could survive on ice cream.  The Bear likes ice cream but not with the same passion as his twinThe Boy decided that if he had to live on one food he would pick cookies....and donuts....and maybe ice cream.  Clearly the point of this exercise eluded him.  I had no idea that such a serious conversation could be had about ice cream/dessert.

PROJECT 365- Day 50 - Team Leonard

PROJECT 365- Day 50 - Team Leonard

The Bear and The Boy's indoor soccer team was missing two players this week.  We had a unique opportunity to have The Princess substitute for the missing players.  So, this week it was Team Leonard with all three kids playing for Coach Daddy. It was so much fun to watch them all play on the same team!  :-)

PROJECT 365- Day 49 - A Night Out

PROJECT 365 - Day 49 - A Night Out

The kids had so much fun hanging with their cousin and his girlfriend tonight while we went out. We really appreciated it and they were a big hit with The Bear, The Princess and The Boy!  :-))

PROJECT 365- Day 48 - Come on in Spring....the Door is Open!

PROJECT 365- Day 48 - Come on in Spring...the Door is Open!

Today was a beautiful day.  After all of the complaining I have done this winter, this was such a welcome change.  My Wonderful Husband and I went for a nice run.  The kids played outside when they got home from school- without jackets! :-)  I was able to open doors and even windows for a bit!!  The fresh air was just what we all needed.  I realize it is just a spring teaser but it was a nice reminder that warmer weather is on it's way.....Pretty soon the doors and windows will be open more often, the world will start turning green again, and all will be right.... Come on Spring!!!  The door is open - come on in!!!!

PROJECT 365- Day 47 - An Award Winning Author

PROJECT 365 - Day 47 - An Award Winning Author

The kindergarten classes participated in a writing contest.  After learning about the author Mo Willems and his Pigeon books, the children wrote their own Pigeon stories in Kid Writing.  The Boy was one of the 2 winners in the three kindergarten classes.  His prize was a a book by Mo Willems.  This is our award winning author pictured with his winning story and illustration. (you didn't expect a serious moment in this picture did you??)

PROJECT 365- Day 46 - Tired Piggies

PROJECT 365- Day 46- Tired Piggies

It was almost bedtime for the kids.  My Wonderful Husband teaches on Tuesday nights, so that makes me a one woman show.  Get the kids home, make dinner, help with homework, get lunches ready, showers, and bed.  It really isn't that bad now that the kids are getting older.  But today I was just plain old tired.  The kids also seemed tired.  There was a lot of "he did"and "she said" kind of nonsense tonight.  A certain person who will remain nameless was less of a princess tonight and more of a grumpy ogre stomping around.  I excused her behavior however since I too felt very much like stomping for no good darn reason.  So when they asked to watch one more show before bed, I agreed and sat with them and put my feet up.  Then we tucked those tired piggies in bed.....and that is exactly where my tired piggies are going too....

PROJECT 365 - Day 44 - Basketball, Buddies, and Bu-bye Winter!!!

PROJECT 365 - Day 44 - Basketball, Buddies, and Bu-Bye Winter!!!!

It was finally a bit warmer today and the kids headed outside to play with friends.  A basketball game broke out and these buddies enjoyed the day outside.  Eventually they traded their heavy winter coats for lighter ones, wishful for even warmer spring temperatures. Come on Spring - we are ready!!!  Bu-Bye Winter!!!!

PROJECT 365- Day 43 - A Character

PROJECT 365- Day 43 - A Character

The Boy is a character.  He is 5, going on 6.  He makes us laugh.  Sometimes he tries our patience.  It's a good thing he's cute - we think we'll keep him. ;-)

PROJECT 365 - Day 41- A Thirst for Knowledge

PROJECT 365 - Day 41 - A Thirst for Knowledge

The Bear came home the other day and told me that he was working on biographies in school.  He asked if he could go online and research Mike Tomlin (the coach of the Steelers).  After two days of research, this is the biography that he wrote.  This kid makes me smile.  When he wants to know more about something he gets a book about it.  Now he even googles stuff to learn more.  This is the kid that brought home a book from the library each week last year about EVERY planet in the solar system because he was interested in space.  He reads Magic Tree House books and wants to learn more about the time period the characters travel to in the book.  While watching the Soccer World Cup in 2010, he started checking out maps to see where all of countries are located that the teams came from.  He has a thirst for knowledge!  He asks questions.  He looks for answers.  He wants to know.  Don't be fooled by that silly grin - beneath it lurks a true scholar!

PROJECT 365- Day 40 - The 100th Day of School!!!

PROJECT 365- Day 40 - The 100th Day of School!!!

Is it wrong that I might be more excited then the kids about the fact that the today was the 100th day of school?  We have made it past the half way mark!  We are that much closer to summer!  Oh yes and they have gained 100 days of knowledge..... Hip Hip Hooray ...We made it to the 100th day!!!  Now I can start the count down.....   ;-)

PROJECT 365- Day 39- A Clean Start....

The Princess still has pneumonia!  She is on her third round of antibiotics!  She had a stomach virus all weekend!  Enough already!  But she doesn't look too worse for the wear.  A shower, some Tink jammies, and a cute hairdo is all it takes!

PROJECT 365- Day 38 - Drop Everything and Read!

PROJECT 365-  Day 38 - Drop Everything and Read!

I am reading this book again for maybe the 4th time.  Since My Wonderful Husband and I never actually made it to the movie I decided to read it again.  I seriously never get tired of it!  Now if you'll excuse me I need to drop everything and go read..... ;-)

Project 365- Day 37 -  A Steelers Shirt and a Hollow Tree.... *

I wore my Steelers shirt today for my boys.  Then after the game started, The Princess and I went downstairs (to our Hollow Tree) to watch Enchanted.  That's supportive right?  ;-)

PROJECT 365- Day 36- My Handy Work

PROJECT 365- Day 36- My Handy Work....

My powder room project is finished- painted the cabinets and the mirror to match.  I had it done and put back together yesterday just before everyone got sick....good timing I guess. ;-)

PROJECT 365- Day 35 - The Start of the Day..

Project 365 - Day 35- The Start of the Day.....

The Bear was the first to be home sick. (that would be the reason for the sheet over the chair and the trash can by his side) But not too sick to pose with his mini Steelers helmet. He can play for hours with these helmets...he invented some game with them that involves a coin toss and playoffs....and I'm not totally sure what else goes on in boy world..but he sure has fun with them!

Unfortunately, as I said he was "the first" to be home sick......what started as a day for The Bear to recover from a rough night with a stomach bug turned into a day where The Princess also came home sick, My Wonderful Husband came home and was sicker than I have ever seen him before,The Bear had a relapse and once I got the kids taken care of and put to bed, I also ended up sicker than I remember ever being sick.  The Boy was the only one spared and I wondered if he would be able to take care of all of us if need be.  I was sure glad that I got this picture of The Bear at the start of this crazy day!

PROJECT 365 - Day 34 - A Song in Her Heart

PROJECT 365- Day 34 - A Song in Her Heart

Lately whenever The Princess isn't playing with her dolls, dressing up, coloring, dancing or singing she is writing songs.  Yup, that's what I said - writing songs.  This kid has a song in her heart that is just trying to bust out!  I find scraps of paper with discarded lyrics all over the house.  Tonight after she showered, she sat down with a clean paper and sharpened pencil and went to work.  Who knows maybe someday the world will hear a Princess original....

PROJECT 365 - Day 33 - Self Portraits and Future Presidents....

PROJECT 365 - Day 33 - Self Portraits and Future Presidents....

The Leonard Art Gallery opened today debuting the self portraits that the kids created.  I love that The Bear's self portrait has him in a sideways hat and a flannel shirt over a t shirt (he is his daddy's son).  The Princess' self portrait includes cute black books, a snazzy headband, a cool backpack, and a great big smile (that appears to be wearing lipstick)....  The Boy's self portrait is of him as the president (which is apparently clear from the Abe Lincoln looking hat that he is wearing) standing in front of the white house (which is actually red and smaller than the president).  I love what their art says about each of them!!!

PROJECT 365 - Day 32 - The First Sign of the Addiction....

PROJECT 365- Day 32 - The First Sign of the Addiction.....

Another snow day....this is getting a bit old.  However the kids did spend the whole afternoon outside playing in the snow and ice.  The Bear and The Princess were building snow houses with their friend when The Boy decided that he was done.  He came inside and plopped right down in front of the T.V. to watch a soccer game with Daddy.  Soon the two of them were having a conversation about players and who was traded to which teams and I suddenly realized that I had lost another one to sports... ;-)  In this house, this is the first sign of the addiction......
