This was my Tuesday night view.  The Bear had a training session in Wall, which meant an hour's drive and no where for me to go once I got there.  Then the rain started.... and I had a front row seat.

The Princess has been in need of running shoes for awhile now, unfortunately it was one of those things we kept saying we needed to do but never did.  Last week, with My Wonderful Husband away and the crazy schedule with work and sports, we never got out to try them on.  The days were dwindling until the start of track season and this week wasn't shaping up any better time wise, so it was time to get creative and use our minutes wisely to get this done.  When the text came in that she needed to bring running shoes to soccer practice tonight, we knew we had to hustle.  Thankfully, The Boy had an early dismissal, I didn't have to sub, and I was able to get dinner started early and head out ahead of schedule with The Princess to look for shoes before meeting her carpool team mate.  We had basically an extra 20 minutes and I am here to tell you that we did our fastest shopping ever!  But she found the exact pair she was looking for - black and white Nikes.  Mission accomplished. pfwew.

When I got home from my 20 mile training run, I changed into some comfy and warm clothes, grabbed some coffee, and headed for the sofa.  The Pooch followed me looking like he was the one who just ran 20 miles and needed a cup of coffee.

It was Championship Saturday at St. Francis today.  The Boy and his team played a great game and fought hard but unfortunately lost.  It was a great season though and they earned a second place team trophy for the 5th and 6th grade division.  The Bear and his team also played a great game and pulled out a win in the end earning first place in the 7th and 8th grade division.  It was a fun season - I can't believe that it was our fourth one here and a final one for The Bear.  I really love our St. Francis Saturdays (and Fridays).

On tonight's agenda, two basketball practices and then two soccer practices, a few times back and forth on the island, and a couple of trips over the bridge.  Add to that one heart to heart with my oldest son, an interesting conversation about space on the way home with both sons, several laughs, a discussion on quotes, some political observations  (out of the mouths of babes, as they say), and a late night "snack" of eggs and toast when they got home and some more chatting and laughs with their sister ... pretty much a perfect Friday night.

The Bear and his team won their playoff game tonight and they are headed to the championship game on Saturday!  Looks like it going to be an eventful Saturday for the Leonard boys.  Just like The Boy, this kid is hoping for a win too.

Tonight was the St. Francis playoff games.  The Boy and his team won in a very close, nail biting game... they are headed to the championship game on Saturday!  Fingers crossed....this kid really wants to bring home a first place trophy.

It was a productive night - I managed to get dinner made and cleaned up and lunches made before getting The Bear to basketball practice in time for me to hit a bootcamp class.  From there I was able to get home and get The Boy to his basketball practice and home again.  By the time my phone "reminded me " that it was almost my "bedtime", everyone was showered, including me, we were all ready for the next day and it was time for lights out.

I am training for my second marathon which is in exactly one month.  This was a rough training week.  I worked all week, my evenings were packed with kids' activities, and couldn't get out of my own way or head to get myself up and out in the early morning hours.  I ended up not getting one of my runs in and was very annoyed with myself.  Thankfully I have a husband a friend who talked some sense into me and I didn't try to just fit the miles in yesterday since I had a long run today.  Instead I went for a bike ride with My Wonderful Husband yesterday and set out for a long run with some running friends today.  In the end, I felt great and maybe the week being what it was wasn't such a bad thing.  I had a great run and sights are set on this marathon.  I have one more long run before I start the taper process.  I am really looking forward to these 26.3 miles....

This is how we get things done.... The Princess had a math quiz the next day and needed some help studying.  But she also had practice 50 minutes away.  That meant books and notes in the car, the overhead light on in the dark, and an emergency phone call to our favorite "phone a friend".  It's not always easy but there is always a way to get things done.

It was the first Valentine's Day since 1994 that we spent apart.....My Wonderful Husband had to be at work, so our Valentine's Day consisted of a few texts at night after work and getting back from an hour long drive to soccer practice for The Bear.  If that is not a sign of life as it is these days, I don't know what is.... ha!  I think this text speaks for itself....23 years... actually 24 Valentine's days with this guy and we still know how to laugh!  Happy Heart Day to the guy who holds part of mine.  xo

The Boy went up for a 3 pointer and came down hard on his knee.... he made the shot but unfortunately limped off the court with a bruised and sore knee.  But while he was sitting on the bench and icing his knee, his brother came to keep him company.  That made me smile.

Can this really be happening?  We are talking about high school schedules?  While I am still slightly in denial, it is really cool to watch The Bear and The Princess take this next step with the same grace and confidence I have seen them do so many things.   I might not be completely ready for this, but they are and I am so proud of them.

This kid can really make me laugh.  I was on carpool duty for The Princess tonight and The Bear was getting a ride to his basketball game.  All of that meant that The Boy was on his own for several hours.  I made dinner before leaving with The Princess, but she ate earlier before The Boy was back from an after school club.  By the time he got home, we were getting ready to head out the door.   I hate leaving any of the kids home alone for hours and I really hate anyone of them having to eat alone, but he didn't seem too phased... he set a "table for one" complete with a placemat and planned to eat and watch TV.  I had to snap a photo on my way out because I really laughed out loud.

I am registered to take the Early Childhood Praxis next week.  Today was all about practicing.  I didn't have work, everyone was out of the house, and I just sat at my computer and simulated the test.  Fingers crossed I do well and pass next week.

The day after Super Bowl Sunday seemed like a perfect day for a long overdue cleanse day.  Getting to have chocolate for breakfast was just an added bonus.

These crazy kids and some of the nutty friends participated in Polar Plunge.  With air and water temperatures around 40 degrees, it was actually pretty balmy compared to past years.  But contrary to the message The Bear and his friends wrote across their chests...they were pretty cold.

Almost 20 years and three kids later and this is what "date night" looks like these days.  Don't be jealous of our exciting Saturday night out.....to Acme.  Yes, these days between work and the kids sports and social calendar, we don't seem to have much time to get out together.   When the kids were little we made the best of early bedtimes by using that time to talk or just watch tv together.  Now, we use our grocery shopping trips for some time together.  Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. The bottom line is no matter where I am with this guy, we are just happy to be together.

Today was The Bear's last basketball game with Southern Regional Middle School.  He is not planning to try out for the high school team.  He wants to focus on soccer, track, and schoolwork, so this was his final basketball game for Southern Regional.  He was happy to leave on a high note by scoring 8 points, having 5 assists and one rebound.
